Sedges

Blog

There are over 140 species of native sedges in our region. GNP is working hard to find seeds and grow them because they provide habitat for small animals, adaptable to many growing conditions and make lovely ground cover, stabilize soil and suppress weeds. To dive deeper read this 4 year Mt Cuba study about 65 species and 5 cultivars, all species were planted in the same soil, in shade and in sun. The results are very helpful for our rewilding efforts!
